Posted By On 26 Feb 2020

Massimo and Samantha from the popular Italian travel site Fermata Spettacolo (www.fermataspettacolo.it) stayed at the Gage Apartments during their visit to Vancouver. They were kind enough to let us translate their article and publish it on our blog. The original article in Italian can be found HERE

Gage Apartments, UBC: An Elegant Stay in the Green Heart of Vancouver

A perfect base for visiting attractions you would not want to miss, such as the Museum of Anthropology, the UBC Botanical Garden, the Nitobe Japanese Garden and the Beaty Biodiversity Museum

By Samantha Russotto

When visiting the beautiful city of Vancouver, Canada, one of your best accommodation choices is in the very heart of the University of British Columbia, in one of the comfortable suites at Gage Apartments, managed directly by UBC.

About 25 minutes by car from the city centre, the Gage Apartments are located in one of the greenest and most peaceful neighborhoods in Vancouver. The hotel has reserved parking, and is easily accessible by public transport: buses leave regularly from the campus and get to the centre in about fifty minutes. The travel time may not be the shortest, but the tranquility and proximity to other great attractions is worth the distance from the hectic downtown: from here it is an easy walk to the Anthropology Museum, the UBC Botanical Garden, the Nitobe Japanese Garden and the Beaty Biodiversity Museum, which hosts an immense blue whale skeleton whose magnificence you can take in from all angles.

The suites are private, elegant in style and offer a number of amenities, along with a spacious bedroom, a modern bathroom, a full kitchen, and a relaxation area with high-speed television and Wi-Fi. It all makes for a cozy stay and really feels like being at home. Nearby there are plenty of grocers and there is good laundry service on campus.

The lobby has excellent reception and the staff, always very hospitable, is prepared to offer suggestions and advice at any time. Also, the mini-market is open late for your last-minute purchases.

Within walking distance you will find plenty of cafes, restaurants, as well as the beach, mostly full of students. At night, especially during the summer holidays, the neighbourhood is very quiet, ensuring a safe and relaxing stay. Recommended for families and couples.
